In the meantime, in-between-time...

First: Happy Birthday Astrid! :)

Dictionary.com gave me a word of the day:

heterodox \HET-uh-ruh-doks\, adjective:
1. Contrary to or differing from some acknowledged standard, especially in church doctrine or dogma; unorthodox.
2. Holding unorthodox opinions or doctrines.

I have never seen this ord in action, but I like it.

1 week left before I fly to Nairobi, and I'm all butterflied. Helen keeps sending emails with hints of savannah grass, heat-billowing air, jeep tires, flamingo squawks and zebra manes... :)

Meanwhile, my 3 remaining co-workers and I are schmoozing around at the Department, somewhere between the options of working or just making time pass. It's been raining all week, so the atmosphere feels like chapter 1 of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe". At least Hans manages to pass time in the most flamboyant manner, by flying a tiny radio-controlled foam airplane around the coffee room. Yesterday, he only flew it into my head twice. It was like being prodded by an persistent but very slow fly.
