Lyrics volley (article escapism, part XVII++...)

My cousin posted a great song, 'Airplanes' on his blog, with no lyrics. You know what that does to me... Especially in deadline-fraught times such as these... (Mais oui, I'm a horrible escapist)

Inspired by the music, the mood on his blog and perhaps the fact that I'm flying to Brazil on saturday (whoa!!?) I scribbled down an attempt at some lyrics... hey, it's a hobby.

I think this is the first time I write lyrics in english, come to think of it (but I've written plenty of lyrics in swedish, thanks 2 spexet). I'll leave my imagined melody to this a mystery (for lack of technical means to reproduce it in a blog-friendly manner... plus I can't read notes ;)

Nico: Hope you accept this public hijacking and mauling of your fantastic music... ;) this is just me passing time, and these are freeform lyrics (inspired by, etc etc), or more like a draft, so naturally it doesn't follow the music exactly... Ah, jus' take it for what it is. And thanks for the distraction ;)

=====================

Lyrics inspired by the song Airplanes and other things

Airplanes are leaving this city without me again

I told them to go,

I'll catch up when I'm ready

I'm just stuck in customs, again

Turbulence, material blends

They're leaving without me again

For a temporary stay

in a beautiful place

with a multi-syllable name

Give me an anthem of men and their sisters

Give me directions, give me some baggage

And a goal in life, or a gentle hint,

or something like it, or just a temp contract

Would I recognize a potential travelling companion

Somebody to leave this place alongside

For a while

Am I wainting in line

Or buying time?

For kicks, for laughs, for want of an occupation

They leave me here and go to some destination

Here today

Far away

Forever waiting for them to recognize me

Come into being and revolutionize me

Here to play?

Go away

Oh look

Airplanes are leaving this city without me again

Passengers and baggage too

One of them might be you

And if that's the case

I'm leaving too
