I certainly am!

These days:

I am the buyer of increasingly ladylike attire and too many shoes. I am inclined to compare these lapses in character with how many shoes my mother owns. I am still the unintentional saviour of a dismantled bookshelf. I am the overstuffer of wardrobe shelves. I am one of those IKEA hackers but only to a mild degree. I am the killer of many houseplants by way of neglect, abandonment and too much love. I am an ignorer of dust and the hoarder of too many ice-cream boxes.

I am the research student who was given a tangle of data and the instructions: make sense of this, kid. I am in the middle of discovering that the data jungle generates some 38 different problem areas and counting. I am glad that I have a meeting with my supervisor tomorrow, maybe he can help me figure out what I'm supposed to focus on. I am soon to become a student of Scientific Ethics. I am the reader of my first-year students' essays about climate-saving technology. I am impressed.

I am a fastidious dance student gone awry. I am occasionally skipping lindy hop class, but I am also back in tap class and loving it. I am the ex-spex-addict who has quit after 5 years but can't resist revisiting my theatrically inclined ex-family. I am the lyrics-writer of a six-part-harmony acapella song about sausages (!), with the words "ooga-chaka" in it. I am the 26-year old who borrowed dad's old sleeping bag one saturday evening, decked it out with swamp-monster details like eyes and paws, and danced breakdance moves in it at a spoof performance of the spex musical "Hannibal". I am sure that I mention this too often, I'm just so surprised that it happened.

I am home infrequently. I am sorry. I am the big sister who sometimes reads Alfons Åberg books to a brother who will be a child forever. I am proud of him. I am both daughter and internet support to my parents. I agree with them that the computer is acting bonkers. I am the eater of leftovers and the unintentional kidnapper of many ice-cream boxes.

I am a child of my time, an escapist who moves not an inch in order to get away. I am listening to swedish reggae music, and grateful to Lars and Eva for that.

I am SO going to throw out tons of unnecessary stuff from my flat after work today.

I certainly am.
